Wood Flooring

Wood Flooring Installations

At O’Neill & Son’s we sell and install all types and major brands of wood flooring. This includes solid wood flooring and laminate flooring.

Wood flooring is not a short-term investment. According to the National Wood Flooring Association (NWFA) and residential real estate agents, homes with wood floors hold their value better, sell faster and get higher prices. Our wood flooring specialists have the experience and knowledge you need when it comes to remodeling your floors. They will service you with all of the experience and attention that wood-flooring installation requires.

Wood Floor Refurnishing

When your hardwood floors become worn and lose their sheen, our techniques will restore their appearance with a beautiful smooth finish leaving them like new. The refinishing process includes sanding and scraping the floors down to the natural wood. We also offer a dustless process, which means our machines vacuum as they are sanding, so the process is kept very clean. We then apply three coats of acrylic finish. (We can also use oil base finish if requested.)

After sanding, we apply the first coat. After about an hour to an hour and a half, we do a buffing process, which is just a light sanding. Next, we apply the second coat giving it the same drying time and buffing process. Buffing between coats enables the floor to become very smooth once the last coat is applied. For the third coat, you will choose a high gloss, semi gloss, or satin finish.

Instructions Prior to Wood Floor Insulations

  • Prior to our beginning you should remove all furniture, paintings, draperies and other items from your walls and shelves to avoid possible dust accumulation or damage to these items.
  • Dust containment is not perfect to any items remaining in the rooms should be covered including lighting fixtures. Thin polyethylene sheeting is very effective and easy to handle.
  • After the finish has been applied do not walk on surface until it is completely dry. We will suggest the time this will take depending on the type of finish.
  • Felt pads should be placed on the legs of furniture before moving onto the dry finish. This will minimize dents and scratches. We trust you will be pleased with your new floors.
